My Daily Holga

My Daily Holga.com was a personal photographic project that ran from September 2007 to April 2008. My goal was to post an image per day for a year, all shot using a Holga camera. Along the way I'd work with limited technical control over a camera and focus more on story and composition.

As most photographic projects do, this one had its share of ups and downs - a camera store sold me good quantity of expired film and the camera contributed its own quirks and charater to produce some beautiful, interesting images. There was a heartbreaking episode where several exposed films was destroyed by a lab "Sorry, our processor had an error".
I didn't meet the daily post requirement, but I did discover the simple pleasures of random and abstract results and the beauty of lens blur and medium format film.

In the end, my enthusiasm for the photo-a-day approach diminished. I started thinking more about what I wanted to shoot - projects that could involve a little more planning and make the most of the Holga's charms. I still love the black plastic box of wonder, it hasn't failed me other than occasionally letting go of its back cover.
